There is no doubt that fast foods are very popular in the U.S. When I think of fast foods I tend to think of McDonald’s, Burger King or other fast food restaurants. Actually fast foods might also be almost any highly processed pre-cooked foods.
The idea of getting some food fast is not what I am talking about. I don’t have any problem with getting food fast as long as it is food that is good for me and won’t do me any harm.
Here’s the problem with what is commonly known as fast foods and what everyone should be concerned about. It’s how were the foods grown and what has been added to these foods.
All hamburgers are not created equal. There is a big difference between a hamburger made with grass fed organic beef, organic tomatoes and nutritious organic lettuce as opposed to a hamburger made with beef grown in an industrial beef factory and pumped up with antibiotics, hormones and fed exclusively with genetically modified feed that has lots of chemicals and pesticides in it. The tomatoes and head lettuce are also grown with pesticides and herbicides. All combined with a white flour bun that has almost no nutritional value and is filled with preservatives and other artificial ingredients.
The other items found in these restaurants most often are also made with these chemical and synthetic additives. The drinks are mostly sodas with lots of high fructose corn syrup, which is closely linked to obesity and type 2 diabetes. In fact most of the food on these restaurant menus are filled with foods that contribute to developing obesity and type 2 diabetes. As well as heart disease, cardiovascular disease and others diseases.

There are other unhealthy foods that you can buy at the store as well. Like for example highly processed foods that are pre cooked for quick heat up in the microwave oven. These fast foods are equally dangerous for your health and in my opinion everyone who buys and eats these foods should be concerned for their health.
Once again let me say that this is not about having food ready really fast. It is all about what these commonly know fast foods are. Namely low nutrition, highly processed foods filled with chemicals, additives and preservatives. We especially need to be concerned when these fast foods are eaten regularly over a long period of time.
Children are the innocent victims of these foods. Unconscious parents are the enablers and the food industry that produces and sells these foods are the perpetrators. It’s actually criminal in my opinion. Children do not know the difference and they are groomed to want the tastes and inducements of the fast food industry. Too often they grow up to continue the cycle. It’s almost as though people now are beginning to believe that type 2 diabetes is a normal part of life since everybody knows people that have it.
